Group 1a and 1b

Our FUNdamentals group introduces swimmers—typically ages 7 to 9—to the basics of speed swimming in a fun, friendly environment. We focus on building confidence, improving efficiency in the water, and making new friends.

To join, swimmers should be able to swim one length of the pool (25 metres) several times during a 30-minute swim assessment with one of our coaches. After the assessment, the coach will chat with you to determine the best group placement for your child. If they already have a friend in the club, let us know—we’ll do our best to keep them together!

In the pool, we work on the foundations of all four strokes while also teaching safety and comfort in the water.

Groups 1 is a three times per week programs, three 10 week sessions are offered during the swim season

Group 1a - Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 4:00pm - 4:30pm

Group 1b - Tuesday & Thursday from 4:00pm - 4:30pm

*Times subject to changes in accordance with City of Cranbrook scheduling.

** New members may join at any time during the year, and swimmers can change groups mid-year. Fees will be adjusted on a pro-rated basis.

Cost:

$225.00 per session

Annual Swim BC fee:¹ $52 (only charged once per year)

Volunteer Commitment:

A $100 fee per family will be charged at year-end if you do not:

Volunteer at 1 sessions (or equivalent) during a home swim meet, and/or
Participate in fundraising throughout the year, and/or
Hold a board position

¹All swimmers must register with swim BC regardless of level. Swimmers can attend sanctioned swim meets, and an additional Swim BC levy will apply. Swim BC fees are non-refundable.

Swim Fit

Non Competitive : Swim Fit

Fitness Group:

This group is for the older swimmers who find themselves wanting to take on a part time
training schedule with the club as they have began working, focusing on their studies, or swimmers who are
competing at a high level for another sport. This group will do the same practices as group 3 OR
4 depending on the age and ability of the swimmer registered.

This group is also available to multi-sport athletes who wish to continue competing, pending board approval of a proposal submitted to the coach and board, either in writing or verbally.

Season: September - June

Swimmers attend 3 – 90 -120 minute swim sessions per week

Monday and Wednesdays Swimming 4:30pm - 6:00pm
Saturday from 9:00am - 11:00am

** New members may join at any time during the year, and swimmers can change groups mid-year. Fees will be adjusted on a pro-rated basis.

Cost:

Annual fee: $1350, broken into 6 equal payments of $225 ($38.57/week)

Swim BC Swim Fit fee:¹ $30.00 ($10 x 3 sessions)

Volunteer Commitment:

A $200 fee per family will be charged at year-end if you do not:

Volunteer at 2 sessions (or equivalent) during one of our home swim meets

AND

Participate in fundraising and/or hold a board position

Group 2 - Learn to Train

Group 2 - Learn to Train Group

Our Learn to Train group builds on the basics, developing strong technique in all four strokes and introducing swimmers to the excitement of competition. Swimmers in this group train three times a week, with typical ages being 9–12 for boys and 8–11 for girls.

A key goal at this stage is completing a 100-metre Individual Medley (IM) legally—one length of each stroke, back-to-back. Competing in even a single swim meet can spark a love for racing that often stays with swimmers throughout their time in the program.

Coaches work closely with athletes to refine their technique and build good training habits, ensuring they’re ready to smoothly transition into the next group when the time comes.

Swimmers can choose to take part in more than one swim meet, but will need to register as a competitive swimmer with SwimBC through the club. If you have any questions about this please talk to one of our coaches or contact our registrar (registrarcontactctsc@gmail.com).

Annual fee: $945, broken into 6 equal payments of $157.50 ($27/week)
