Non Competitive : Level 1a

This entry level program is for swimmers who can comfortably swim 25m – 1 length of the pool and be able to jump or dive into the deep end of the pool. Swimmers should be at level 4 or better in the Red Cross swim lessons.

This program goal is to give young swimmers some of the basic tools they will need to learn advanced skills later in their development. Major emphasis is placed on breathing control and kicking. Once swimmers complete the criteria of this program they progress into the competitive swim program. During and after the swim sessions, coaches will provide parents/guardians with reports on the swimmers progress.

Groups 1a & 1b are a three times per week programs, three sessions are offered during the swim season

Group 1a - Monday & Wednesday from 3:45pm - 4:30pm & Friday from 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Group 1b - Tuesday & Thursday from 3:45pm - 4:30pm & Friday from 4:00pm - 5:00pm

Cost: $225.00 per session,

Annual Swim BC fee¹ $51.75

$100 Volunteer Fee (per family)²

¹All swimmers must register with swim BC regardless of level. Swimmers can attend sanctioned swim meets, and an additional Swim BC levy will apply. Swim BC fees are non-refundable.

²The fee will be refunded at the end of the swim season, if a parent signs up and fulfills one of the following activities:

Work 2 sessions at both our home swim meets
Hold a Board position
Organize fundraising for the club

Group HS

14 years & over
3 times per week

Non Competitive : Group HS

Prior to entrance into this program, swimmers should have achieved or be close to achieving a sub 4 minute 200 Individual Medley & 200 Freestyle. This group is open to swimmers who are enrolled in high school (grades 10, 11 or 12).

The main emphasis of the group is to still pursue the proper technique but with reduced training time in comparison to group 4. Evaluation and monitoring process (testing) will be applied. All swimming strokes will be trained as the main focus will be 200 Individual Medley & 400 Freestyle.

Season: September - June

- Term 3, April 2025 - June 2025

Swimmers attend 3 – 60-90 minute swim sessions per week at their choosing, during the training times listed below (same times as groups 3 and 4)

Monday & Wednesday Swimming 5:30pm - 7:00pm
Tuesday and Thursdays Swimming 4:30 - 5:30
Wednesday and Friday mornings (to begin in October) - 6:30-7:30am
Saturday from 9:00am - 11:00am

Cost: $150 monthly fee for 2024/2025 Season

Swim level Group 2 (Formally Named 3a)

For families who wish for their kids to explore competitive swimming, maintain their swimming skills, or further their overall fitness with a less competitive-centred commitment.

This group will continue to build on basic skills practiced in the non-competitive Group 1 program as well as develop all competitive strokes, starts, and turns while working towards a sub 4-minute 200 Individual Medley & 200 Freestyle. Swimmers will have the opportunity to compete twice locally at our Cranbrook swim meets and will also have the opportunity to travel regionally when the child’s interest indicates and at the coach's discretion.

Pre-requisite:

- Successful completion of Group 1 non-competitive program, with Coach endorsement to move up.

- The ability to swim 150 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, 75 Breaststroke, 25 Butterfly and 100 Individual Medley, with a qualifying coach assessment and coach endorsement to join the group level.

Sessions:

- Swimmers attend 3 – 60-minute swim sessions per week.

- Friday from 5-6pm
